Happy Easter

What a beautiful day today was. We started the day with an early Easter Egg Hunt. We normally do the "fun" Easter stuff on Saturday but Jared had to teach a class Saturday so we moved it to this morning. At any rate it was very early since we have 9 o'clock church. So it has become a tradition of my own to make my kiddos a little something "Eastery" for their Easter baskets. Last year I made them those Wee Bunnies you see up there and this year well I had decided that I didn't have time to make them anything but on Saturday morning I changed my mind and went to work making them thee above pictured Momma & baby chicks - Zander's is of course a Daddy. My cute kiddos decided that they were to be called chick-a-roos, since they have a pocket for their babies like a kangaroo does. Cute HUH!!!! clever children I know!!! Anyhow, after much begging for chocolate we finally succeeded in feeding them a REAL breakfast. Then it was off to church and Wow what a wonderful sacrament meeting we had. The choir did the whole program and it was like I said, WOW!
Things that I love about Easter:

* having a special day to reflect on the gift our Father in Heaven has given us - the gift of his son, my brother who suffered death for me and who was then resurrected . This glorious gift made it possible for you and I too do the same. I love my elder brother Jesus Christ and am fully aware of his hand in my life. I know that the Savior does not take away our trials but that he walks beside us and makes it possible for us to make it through them and come out better for having done so.

* I love the symbolism between Spring & Easter. How flowers and grasses spring up literally from the ground just as our Savior did from the tomb.

* I love making my children special Easter surprises that delight them beyond any candy. Such great appreciators!

* I love watching my kiddos get their hands all dyed up while coloring eggs. We tie dyed ours this year. For some reason Zander thought that when you dye a hard boiled egg it becomes a candy egg. After dyeing the eggs he begged to eat one and I of course said yup and then peeled the lovely shell off. I handed it over to him and he in all disgust and saddness said, " No, Mom I want the pretty candy one that I made." HUMMMM!!!
* I love handsome little boys and beautiful little girls all dressed up in their Sunday best.

Well, like I said what a wonderful day today was.
Thanks for dinner Moll - We sure love having you guys "kinda" close! Love you!

Pay No Attention To My Voice

I wanted to see if I could put a video on my blog so here is my first attempt. This ones for you Mom/Grandma! Pay No Attention to how ridiculous I sound. Babies will do that to a full grown adult every time!

Don't Be Fooled!

So, today is April Fools Day and I must say that I have always enjoyed this funny day. Since I was a young girl I have always planned at least one funny joke to play on someone. Dad was the recipiant of many of them in my growing up years. My favorite one that I use to do to him was to put Chicken Buillion in the shower head. I can't remember if he even noticed but I thought it was funny. In college I put kolaid in the shower head for one of my roomies. Well this morning I started early and called Amy to tell her that Mom & Dad's table wouldn't fit in my van and that I wouldn't be coming down to Utah afterall. She of course was all saddened and then I yelled out "April Fool's you Fool" - she proceeded to call me an igit (something she calls me often)! Anyhow that was just a simple one. Ter even tried to get me with "I'm pregnant Jen" ! I was onto her and apparently her fooling hadn't gone well at all today. When I picked my girls up from school Paigey handed me a note from her teacher that said, "Paige refused to do any of her work today", she had a funny little smirk on her face and then I turned over the paper and it said "April Fools"! Nice one Mrs. Lott! Anyways, for the past few days I have had something fun planned for today for my family. I found online this funny April Fools dinner and man if I didn't pull it off . It was absolutely hilarious and my kids were sooooooooo thrilled! I'm sure you can see from the looks on their faces. Dinner was fish sticks (wafer cookies covered in peanut butter and dipped in crushed cereal), mashed potatoes and gravy ( vanilla icecream with caramel sauce) & green beans ( actually real green beans just to fool them a bit more). Well, I must say that all the work was worth it and I will definately be making this a traditon. Man I love April Fools Day ! The last picture is the one I took before the icecream started to melt and I think it looks a whole lot like the real deal, Don't YOU?

Happy Day You Fools!
Love you,
Mrs. Tricky
