Happy Easter

What a beautiful day today was. We started the day with an early Easter Egg Hunt. We normally do the "fun" Easter stuff on Saturday but Jared had to teach a class Saturday so we moved it to this morning. At any rate it was very early since we have 9 o'clock church. So it has become a tradition of my own to make my kiddos a little something "Eastery" for their Easter baskets. Last year I made them those Wee Bunnies you see up there and this year well I had decided that I didn't have time to make them anything but on Saturday morning I changed my mind and went to work making them thee above pictured Momma & baby chicks - Zander's is of course a Daddy. My cute kiddos decided that they were to be called chick-a-roos, since they have a pocket for their babies like a kangaroo does. Cute HUH!!!! clever children I know!!! Anyhow, after much begging for chocolate we finally succeeded in feeding them a REAL breakfast. Then it was off to church and Wow what a wonderful sacrament meeting we had. The choir did the whole program and it was like I said, WOW!
Things that I love about Easter:

* having a special day to reflect on the gift our Father in Heaven has given us - the gift of his son, my brother who suffered death for me and who was then resurrected . This glorious gift made it possible for you and I too do the same. I love my elder brother Jesus Christ and am fully aware of his hand in my life. I know that the Savior does not take away our trials but that he walks beside us and makes it possible for us to make it through them and come out better for having done so.

* I love the symbolism between Spring & Easter. How flowers and grasses spring up literally from the ground just as our Savior did from the tomb.

* I love making my children special Easter surprises that delight them beyond any candy. Such great appreciators!

* I love watching my kiddos get their hands all dyed up while coloring eggs. We tie dyed ours this year. For some reason Zander thought that when you dye a hard boiled egg it becomes a candy egg. After dyeing the eggs he begged to eat one and I of course said yup and then peeled the lovely shell off. I handed it over to him and he in all disgust and saddness said, " No, Mom I want the pretty candy one that I made." HUMMMM!!!
* I love handsome little boys and beautiful little girls all dressed up in their Sunday best.

Well, like I said what a wonderful day today was.
Thanks for dinner Moll - We sure love having you guys "kinda" close! Love you!

I couldn't have said it better. Ditto on all the Easter gratefulness. I thought the Easter program was so touching also. Cute chick-a-roos! The name alone makes me want one!
