Birthday Boy Dawson!

Does this picture remind you of the movie Steel Magnolias (Mol and I thought so)

My cute nephew Dawson turned 7 years old yesterday. As some of you may know, my sister Molly (his MOM) is pregnant with her 5th and 6th baby. Yep, she's having twins, identical girl babies. We are all very excited for her but alas she has been put on bed rest at nearly 20 weeks. Yikes Mol from marathons to laying on the couch all day. Well it doesn't sound half bad. Anyhow, I was asked to make his birthday cake because she can't and well Tristan doesn't Do Dinosaurs! Dawson wanted a blue dinosaur and so I set off to work. I made the two round cakes and then froze them and then I made some blue and orange marshmellow fondant (the real kind tastes nasty - this kind is actually pretty darn good). I cut the two cakes to the shapes I desired and then rolled and rolled and rolled the fondant out to the perfect size and thickness. Jared and Paigey helped get it on Rudy the Rex and then Paige and I added his features. We thought he turned out pretty darn cute. He was also pretty darn tasty I might add.

Tristan grilled us up some delicious steaks and Jared and I tried some of Tristans favorite swear word steak sauce (it was so good -surprisingly) and we had ourselves a great birthday party. See for yourselves. He loved his presents! He got a watch, didj game and a sling shot handmade by Paigey. We had tons of fun! Love you Mol! Love you Dawson Boy - Happy Birthday you cute smiley faced boy!

Coming to you LIVE!

Ok, so one of my favorite websites to follow ever since I was a boutique gal on Ebay (back when I sold my designs in a group called Ivylane) well the website is called Boutique Cafe. It's a fun website where they keep you up to date on all the latest and greatest things for your kids and all the cutest designs out there and of course my favorite they have all the latest and greatest info on fabric designers. Something you may not know about me is that one of my big dreams is to one day design my own fabric line. OH MAN! Anyhow, on with the story. On their website they had a giveaway about 2 or 3 weeks ago for one lucky reader to go in place of the head Boutique Cafe gal to the Mom's Who Make It Conference in SLC. Oh and the winner of that would have to interview all the speakers and the folks who attend and be required to stay all day. The winner would also win a Flip Video Camera. Well I'm sure you guessed it by now but I won the drawing. So I'M a Correspondant - you know like Ross the INtern from the Jay Leno Show. I am sooooo excited and this truly is a great thing for me because it is just the inspiration I need to better my Scrub Cap business and to one day Design my Fabric Line. They call people like this Momprenuers ! Funny huh! So this coming Thursday the 16th of July I will be interviewing and having a gay ole time in SLC. It includes a Mocktail party (only in Utah right!) all day classes on various things including photography, couponing, being a better mom, running your own business - OHHH and countless others. Let's not forget the catered lunch and dinner. When its all over and done I will then turn in my video of the interviews and sometime soon it will be posted for all to see on their website. Is this for real? I'm really excited.

A girl can dream right! After Scotts last post I know that anything is possible.

Love you all,

Jen with Stars in her eyes

What's That You Say? Come Again?

Zander is one sweet talking little guy. Don't kids just say the funniest things, especially if they are your kids.

I'm in the bathroom doing my hair and in walks my son in his undies (as usual)

"Momma, you are a pretty little thing. I'm gonna kiss your lips."

Then I hear his Dad in the bedroom say, "Son can I use that line?"

Today we made plans to go swimming in our friends the Ferkins pool. It was hot and the sun was shining all day, that is until we were ready to go to the pool at about 6:30 and then the clouds rolled in. I was sure it was over for swimming when we heard a loud crack of thunder and that is when my children ran for their bedrooms crying. They knew that thunder meant lightning and lightning meant NO Swimming! I tried to soothe them by telling them that if it stopped storming outside we could still go swimming and then I said ,"Let's keep our fingers crossed." WEll this is when I looked over at my son who was intently trying to cross his fingers . He finally looked up at me and said, "Like this momma" . He then proceeded to cross his fingers for the next 20 minutes and all the while he was watching out the window saying , " I bet those clouds will move and I'll see a little speck of sunshine." Well, I'll be snickered - those clouds did move and the sun was shining within 20 minutes and I said lets go swimming. Then my darling little Zander said to me while waving his crossed fingers infront of my face, "Momma aren't you proud of me?" I sure was!

Man I sure do love you Zookie Boy!
